Market reports this month reveal the price of meat has reached an all-time high. If you purchased yours at one Midatlantic supermarket, you’ll want the details on how to get this refund.

On Monday, July 14, ShopRite posted a recall alert indicating “all store made ground beef, ground pork and meatloaf mix freshly ground” was being recalled from a Pennsylvania location in Eddystone, Delaware County.

The recall was initiated “due to the possibility of the presence of very small metal pieces from the grinder components.” It’s unclear how the issue was discovered, but the recall on ShopRite’s corporate site emphasizes that this affects only store-made ground meat produced at this location.

“If you purchased any of these products on Monday, July 14th, please return them to the store for a refund or replacement,” reads the notice, adding that customers may contact ShopRite Customer Care at 800-746-7748.

The same day as the ShopRite recall, Fox News published a report that the American Farm Bureau Federation had stated a pound of beef near Fourth of July weekend cost $6.67 per pound, “marking the highest price for beef ever recorded by the group.”

ShopRite is a retailers’ cooperative of supermarkets with more than 300 locations spread throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Also this week, the nation’s largest dairy manufacturer, Danone, announced the recall of all flavors of a popular yogurt brand marketed for kids—also due to possible foreign fragments appearing in product. Incidents like these can lead to choking, perforation of the digestive lining, or other health complications.
